I’ve just signed up to new EE plan on iPad with swappable benefit and have chosen BR Sport. However I can’t send or receive tex messages so when I try register my number on BT Sport it tries to send me an activation code but I can’t receive it. Any thoughts?

Put your SIM in a phone.

It’s an IPad and the sim is already in it. Because it’s not a phone I don’t think I can send And receive sms messages from it

This may be the link to BT Sport set up you should've received. Does it work for you?

Thanks. Yes I received the link from EE via 150. I put my details into BT Sport online and it said they will send me an activation code to my number. However my iPad won’t receive it as i can’t receive SMS messages.
any ideas how to get round this?

yes checked messages and tried switching it on and off but no message.
I’ve done some research and it seems i can only receive messages from EE and iMessages/MMS. The iPad doesn’t have a cellular network connection - it only has cellular data and WiFi connection. If I want to send receive SMS I need to link it to my phone and it will send/receive from that number - but my phone number isn’t registered for BT Sport, only my iPad number

spoke to customer support. It’s an issue with iPads where they won’t send/receive SMS.
I need to take sim out of iPad and put it into my phone and complete the set up on BT Sport on my phone where I can receive the activation code. Once set up and I can put SIM card back into iPad and use BT Sport!
