5g connectivity

I upgraded my phone to Samsung ultra s20 and it shows a 5g connection at the top of the phone but I'm still only getting 4g speeds when I ran a speed test app it showed it was connected to lte and not 5g as the phone stated any idea how I can get the correct data performance on my phone

Re: 5g connectivity

Some speedtest apps don't show 5G correctly, it's the speed that matters, not the icon. As long as it says 5G on your phone then you're using 5G.

Re: 5g connectivity

I did another speed test it shows 5g in my house at the top of the screen but says I'm using lte in results I have highlighted it showing the one time it shows 5g on the speed test so I known it shows the difference

Re: 5g connectivity

Hi @Uksmiler (cc @chistery and @BrendonH),

The 5G icon in the screenshots is not coloured in which means you are not actually connected to the 5G bearer. This is why your speeds are as they are.

Thanks,

Peter

Re: 5g connectivity

I went around 400 meters away from my house where it starts to connect to 5g speeds and the colour of the 5g symbol doesn't change its like around my house its showing 5g but connecting to 4g

Hi @Uksmiler,

In your latest screenshot, the 5G icon is coloured in and you are using 5G.

Re: 5g connectivity

So I am right even though it shows 5g signal because its not coloured in its reverting to 4g so why is it doing this and how can I keep it on 5g

Re: 5g connectivity

It's reverting to 4G because the 5G bearer doesn't meet the radio quality requirements to be added. It's a case of waiting for 5G deployment to spread.
