My xbox app on iphone and on ipad stopped working a couple of months back. The app loads fine but when I try to join any voice chat the app says “something went wrong” and crashes.
interestingly ive discovered that when i turn the 4gee wifi off on the phone and use 4g it works fine.
I have looked at the router settings and dont see anything obvious (upnp turned on etc.)
app is running the latest version (which in the last update said something about fixing chat issues) and iOS 13. Xbox app deleted and reinstalled several times.
all other 4gee services are working fine. Help appreciated.

You are using the app over EE 4G WiFi (yellow box?) It maybe because you have content lock on this device but not your 4G phone SIM?

Thanks for your responses. I'm using the white full 4gee box (and have been for 3 years). It's only in the last 2 months it has stopped working for chat through the xbox app.
I agree it should work in theory if the regular phone 4g service works (on another phone with an ee sim), but for some reason it doesn't.
Are there some router settings I need to platy with? (I have turned upnp to on)
