Problem when I try to add data to Huawei e8372 3G mifi wingle

I have a Huawei mifi wingle/dongle. The EE sim card came with 6GB data preloaded and I used this last year. I would like to add data to it but it won't connect.

 

I get an indication of full signal in the Huawei web interface but 'disconnected'; the connection light flashes cyan every 2 secs (the other lights on solid green).

 

If I try to go to http://add-on.ee.co.uk or /status, I'm just taken back to the Huawei home page.

 

Do I need to reactivate the sim or some such?

When did you last use the SIM for a chargeable action? I'm guessing this is a PAYG data SIM. EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.
