New 4GEE router contract and sudden need for more data. What options?

Hello,

I recently got a 4GEE modem and 100GB contract because our wired home broadband was so poor.

Unfortunately, almost immediately, the Covid19 pandemic struck. My partner and I are now working at home full time and this is placing big demands on that 100GB, given the need to videoconference and so on. There's no way the 100GB is going to last until the end of the month.

According to a chat with EE support, I can't change this to a different contract until a month has elapsed. So what's going to happen when I hit 100? Is my connection going to stop, or am I going to get a massive bill? Is there any other option to get more data in the short term?

Hi @bigoldcat

It seems you have already spoken to EE CS who have given you advice. You can buy additional data should you need it.

For what else EE can offer, then please see EE guide.

Thanks for replying. EE only said I can change my contract once a full month has elapsed. My question was about my situation between now and when the first month is finished - I don't know what will happen when I have used 100GB of data, given EE say they can't upgrade the contract yet.

The site refuses to show me my options because I currently still have some data allowance left. But I really want to know my options.

It should still give you an option, @bigoldcat

What if you click 'buy data' in the top right corner?

Thanks for checking @bigoldcat

What about in your My EE account?

  1. log in to My EE

  2. go to Menu > Plan & add-ons

  3. go to Add-on > Buy add-ons

  4. select the add-on you want to buy

That route just takes me to http://add-on.ee.co.uk/, which is where I was before, and which refuses to show me options until I've already run out of data

Thanks @bigoldcat

Our Mobile Care team should be able to check which add-on options will be available on your plan.

Re: New 4GEE router contract and sudden need for more data. What options?

me again, to re-iterate and share with as many people as possible:

So so poor from EE. A real brand damager. We are all told to stay home, we live in rural areas and have to already pay over the odds for this 4g broadband. already I have a sim only contract with unlimited data on my mobile from Three, for £15 a month!!!! Yet, for this service I pay £60 a month, for 300gb. Now, in this time of crisis, where I have to work from home, do video conferences, use Cisco over internet calling etc, keep a family entertained and educated, and I need more data, I have to wait until it runs out to find out exactly my how much I'm going to get ripped off. As soon as another option for broadband in my area arrives, I'm long gone.
