After only a few months it seems the battery in the Nighthawk is no longer able to hold much charge. Once charged it lasts only maybe 1hour (using both 2.4 and 5).
Does anyone else have experience of this? seems rather poor for a "mobile" router

Yes, I have spoken with them, not really of much use if I'm honest.
They stated the battery runs down more when you use it more! Then said I should monitor the battery life. (which I already have otherwise I wouldn't be contacting them).
I explained my benchmark which is, Device when new battery life = approx 24hrs with approximately the same the data volumes as now. Battery life now = 1hr and unit continue to go into orange blinking more and dropping the connection. But apparently, I need to measure it more. Even though measuring the actual life of the battery on its own tells you absolutely nothing without assumptions about the computed volume passing through the router.

No, they didn't complete any diagnostics
Purchased in Jan 2018 I think as part of a pay monthly contract yes

Fix my Device, unfortunately, has very little data around the Nighthawk so didn't really solve the problem.

I'm sorry you couldn't find what you needed from the help page I suggested.
Before you book in for a repair I would get in touch with our tech team for further investigation. They will be able to give the best options moving forward.

I’ve had the same issues with my router. It doesn’t fully charge to 100% and battery life has become very poor. Lots of similar experiences on the Netgear community.
