Mobile sim into WiFi device

Hi There, 

Can I use EE mobile sim into a Huwawei portable WiFi device or have to get data sim?

I read somewhere in 2018, a net neutrality rule  was passed to treat all sims equally whether for mobile or WiFi device.

Indeed, you can use a phone SIM in a portable router/WiFi device.
