Mini Wi-Fi not in usa

Hi

I was told me mini Wi-Fi would work in the usa which was the main reason i got it. Arrived in usa yesterday and it doesnt.

When i turn it on it has a red light instead of green on the signal lights.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi @Debcantrill

@XRaySpeX is correct it only works in the EU. You can take the SIM out and use it in a phone/tablet and allow the mobile hotspot option.

Thanks

@Debcantrill: I understand these MBB router are only designed to work in Europe with our mobile bands.

Re: Mini Wi-Fi not in usa

Hi @Debcantrill,

Welcome to the EE Community.

I'm going to ask our technical team to check this device will work in the USA.

In the meantime, can you please check roaming is activated in My EE? Just select 'Manage device' from the menu to check.

Thanks

Re: Mini Wi-Fi not in usa

Did you buy a roaming data add-on for the US? Your UK allowances are not valid there.

Re: Mini Wi-Fi not in usa

Try turning 4G off.  All the EE branded WiFI routers EE sell only come with LTE(4G) bands 3, 7 and 20, none of which are used in the US.

3G *may* work in some areas with T-Mobile (not AT&T though) though again, it's not going to work everywhere.

I've never seen anything more than 2G when using EE branded WiFi routers in the US.  2G is of no use for data anyway.

Re: Mini Wi-Fi not in usa

Ah! Good, you have all the necessary to use data in the USA.

So, it boils down to the device itself cannot run on the US mobile bands, which has been confirmed by others.

Re: Mini Wi-Fi not in usa

Hi @Debcantrill,

@Profile closed was correct, your router supports Bands 3(1800MHz), 7 (2600MHz) and 20 (800MHz) on 4G.

3G is supported on bands  1 (2100MHz), 3 (1800MHz) and 8 (900MHz).

Thanks

James
