Can I assign a static IP address daily to my 3G dongle? Or get a fresh IP?

I spoke to two support people and asked

"Can I assign a static IP address to my 3G dongle?"

they both told me no, you can not? Is this true?

I'd like to get a new IP address every day for

A) some testing we are doing

b) privacy concerns (IP tracking etc)

So can I assign myself a new static daily?

Or is there a command to force an IP address change?

I've tried pulling the dongle out and waiting but the IP pool seems to be about 3 IP addresses?

Re: Can I assign a static IP address daily to my 3G dongle? Or get a fresh IP?

@jamie3000 : No, EE don't do static IPs; only dynamic IPs & you share that with other users thro' EE mobile network's CGNAT (Commercial Grade NAT). However from your Qs it sounds like dynamic IPs is just what you want.

The CGNAT could well be the reason why the IP pool is so repetitive.

Customer support are correct - you have no control over the IP address allocation procedure.

Re: Get a new 4G IP address?

@jamie3000 , you have already received a reply in your other thread, no need to start a new one, as the answer will remain the same, no matter whether you have 3G or 4G, as EE do not do static IPs.

Re: Get a new 4G IP address?

@jamie3000 : No the answer's still "No!" however many times you post the same Q. I've already told you that you'll only get a random dynamic IP limited by the CGNAT.

Re: Get a new 4G IP address?

Dunno why you're worrying anyway. Most of UK mobile users manage with dynamic IPs. The same goes for mobile phones as well as mobile BB routers. They use the same mobile network.

Anyway a static IP is what it says it is ; it never changes.
