I woke up this morning and had ran out of data, I was connected to WiFi and wasn’t using my phone during the night so don’t understand why? I upgraded my phone yesterday could this have anything to do with it?

Have you logged into your EE app/online to establish how much data you have remaining?

@Charbie87 EE doesn’t track what you use your data on, EE only tracks your data usage.

If you go to Settings > Mobile Data and scroll down, it will show you a list of apps with an amount of data next to them in KB, MB or GB.
This is the amount of data that has been used by each app since it was last reset (if ever).
It may not give you an answer at the moment as to how the data was used, but if you reset it, you can monitor it closely going forward to understand how you use your data.
Please also check if WiFi assist is switched on or off:
Settings > Mobile data > WiFi assist.
