Upgrade cost much more than new contract

I'm due to upgrade my phone soon and i want the S8. For the deal i want It will cost me £68 a month for upgrading, or it will cost me £43 a month if i get a new contract (still with EE).

Why is this the case? and can i still start a new contract and keep my number as that seems to be the only downside to not upgrading?

Thanks,

Luke

Re: Upgrade cost much more than new contract

@ldalton   Call customer services and see what they can do for you, don’t always go with what you can see online or in the store as not all tariffs are available to be seen.

And if you take out a new contract you cannot port your number from your old contract to your new contract you will have to move it to a pay-as-you-go Sim card 1st to then move to your new contract
