Restrictions on plans for non citizens

I moved to the UK last September and have had a 20GB monthly plan since October. When I started the contract,  I wanted another plan with larger data allowance, but was told it’s not possible as I haven’t lived in the UK for half a year. Now, I want to upgrade my plan, but it’ll be only possible after six months of contract so in my case from May.

However, due to the current COVID-19 situation, I need more data allowance to communicate with people, especially in my home country.

So I was wondering if you could consider removing the restrictions so that customers like me can upgrade plans as soon as possible?

If not, although this is not ideal, is it possible to terminate my current contract, paying an early exit fee, have PAC issued, and start a new EE contract with more data?

This is a credit based restriction. You would need to speak to EE CS on 150 about this issue.

Don't you have access to WiFi?

@Kazu   This is a public forum not customer services you are best off calling customer services to discuss what your options are.     If you was able to pay off the remaining term of the contract you could then upgrade to a different contract you don't need a PAC code for this.

That won't work! You can't use a PAC within EE & when you cancel a contract you lose the no. So the only way is to 1st port your existing no to another network's PAYG using a PAC from EE & then in reverse port it back to your new contract.

Thank you everyone for your useful advice!

I don't have wifi.

Now I know I have to ring them up. I don't understand why I can't discuss this sort of issues at real shops or via email. The helpline must be so busy.
