I am planning tu buy Nokia 6 from China (my friend is there for few weeks).
Since EE seems to be ahead in the 4G coverage, I want to buy a SIM only EE plan.
It seems to support EE 4G bands - 800Mhz, 1800Mhz & 2600Mhz so assuming that 4G would work with the phone.
4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 28(700), 38(2600), 40(2300)
But my doubt is - will 4G calling (VoLTE) work with it?
Looking for a response.

@amitd86 It will not work with VoLTE but it will revert to 3G to make and receive calls . All data though will be over 4G.
This is how EE payg device work at present and it only been a year or so that EE allowed some devices to have VoLTE.

Thanks for your response.
VoLTE will not work with PAYG sims definitely but would work with monthly SIM only contracts. isn't it?

I will give it a try with my new Nokia 6 🙂
and logically understood - any VoLTE capable phone should be able to register on EE network.

@amitd86 You need to check that the device supports these bandwidths
* 800MHz(band 26) for 4G
* 1800MHz(band 3) for 2G and 4G
* 2100MHz(band 1) for 3G only
* 2600MHz(band 7) for 4G

@Chris_B its band 20 for 800mhz.
@amitd86I would seriously doubt that your phone would ever have the correct EE VoLTE IMS config so you will probably ever only connect to Bands 3 & 7 for 4G and not band 20.
VoLTE looks very difficult to implement so I doubt they would put any resource into a phone that was bought abroad.

As @Chris_B has out the phone will not work on VoLTE on EE network unless bought from EE.
VoWiFi we would be unsure of.
But if the bands are correct you would get 4G just not Vo4G

The posts in this thread are wrong.
I have a Nokia 6 from Carphone Warehouse - it is unlocked and SIM-free - and supports VoLTE and WiFi Calling on EE. It even supports band 20!
It would appear that any manufacturer can support these technologies on EE without EE's input (or maybe they had EE's input but they don't need EE firmware), if they can be bothered. OnePlus is another example with the OnePlus 5.

I too bought a Nokia 6 from CarphoneWarehouse, it's a great phone, but...
When calling out on 4G, my phone rings for about 15 seconds before hanging up with a message on the screen saying "No response, timed out".
The person receiving the call gets another 4 or 5 rings but if they answer they just hear silence.
When you go into settings, mobile network settings and preferred network type and change to 3G all calls work perfectly.
Customer services suggests a factory reset and see if it still happens. I'd rather ensure that other avenues are covered first.
Do you have the same?

I have the same issue. Never had issue with other handsets.
64% of my calls dropped because of this issue within the let 7 days.
Yes, when tried 3g the problem didn't happen.
I've not tried tried factory restI. I'm thinking to return handset
