Have you tried restarting the device since the SIM card got activated? And have you enabled mobile data on the device and have you allowed the apps to use mobile data ?  

 

Is this a sim only contract or a full contract that includes a device?  and if sim only have you moved from a different network and your using that other network device on EE now and if that’s the case what device is it ?
