I have internet but it won’t load social media. Why?

My phone is telling me i have 4 bars of 4G but it when on instagram and on whatsapp, it says it “has no connection”. It occasionally seems to pick work if on wifi but otherwise it just won’t load. I have tried the usual things and Safari/internet work, but not for social media. Any ideas why that may be? 

(I have an Iphone XR)

Hi Katie,

 

My data was activated, so it wasn't that side of things.

I went to Manage Device and my content lock was set to 'Off'.

 

I changed it to 'Strict'. Restarted my phone and then reset the content lock to 'Off' again. This seemed to work as all went back to normal.

Can you see if you have content lock on? You'll find the details here and how to turn it off.

Yes, i checked this through the app and it says it is off.

@Matfab91   Have you allowed the apps to use cellular data from with in the device data settings?

Having the same issue. I can connect to social media when using WI-FI but switching to mobile data and it says I can't connect.

 

I'm able to send messages with WhatsApp but pictures won't load.

 

This only started this morning. I haven't changed any settings on my phone, so I'm assuming it's an EE issue as my girlfriend on O2 is having no issues.

Is this happening in all locations?

 

Are you able to follow the advice provided by @Chris_B and check data is enabled in your settings?

 

Finally, are your apps up to date?
