I'm not after the coverage I want to know which LTE _frequency bands_ are available on my local mast.
For example, channel 20 (800MHz) appears to have disappeared and I'm left with channel 3 (1800MHz) which isn't very good for a remote (we're quite a distance from the mast) connection.
Is it my LTE router (I've tried two with the same result) or is it EE?

To be fair, if your device is choosing B3-L1800 over B20-L800, it's probably by design or radio parameter - in other words, the network & phone is choosing it. L800 is a coverage layer of last resort and if any other 4G band is available, it will be preferred.
As for your other question, there are apps out there for Android phones that contribute to an online map doing exactly what you're looking for. But they're entirely independent of EE, third-party etc etc so a few minutes on Google should find them!
