EE 4G router connection to another wifi router

Hi, we have the EE mobile broadband with the 200GB plan as the wired internet in the area is very poor. The trouble is that the EE router is not powerful enough to get wifi around the entire house so we cant connect lights, nest and other smart devices. Hence the question, can I simply turn off the wifi and DHCP, then plug a new more powerful wifi router into the WAN port?

@garadiff  Why not just get wifi repeaters.  These can extend the range of the Wi-Fi signal

there are a 2 types available for your  situation from power line wifi repeaters to just wifi repeaters.

Ill go with the power line wifi repeaters as this will be the easiest to set up and your just going to be extending the original wifi range.

Hi @EamonnC

Have you tried and tested the second router option which has been mentioned by @garadiff

Many thanks,

@EamonnC Wifi repeaters have a  Ethernet port at the bottom of them

Re: EE 4G router connection to another wifi router

I would have thought most smart home devices run over WiFi.

Re: EE 4G router connection to another wifi router

Hi,

Philips hue doesn’t connect wirelessly for a start, needs an Ethernet connection to router and so does my large photo printer.

I have a amplifi hd system so I don’t want to use Wi-fi extenders.

I thought the nighthawk supports IP Passthrough but am unable to get an answer to will it work. My question has been with product specialists without an answer for over 2 weeks now. I don’t know if EE have played around with the nighthawk as Telstra have done in Australia.

If the nighthawk does pass through or act as a bridge with the router disabled then I will buy one.

Cheers

Why don't you search the Netgear site & look at its spec, manuals & support articles? They'll know more than here.

Re: EE 4G router connection to another wifi router

I’ve done that. That is why I know it supports IP Passthrough. Why I don’t know is have EE tweaked the nighthawk. And that is why I am on this site
