Data usage rip off.

Just watched 80 minutes of rugby league on my phone using the sky go app over 4g and used over 4gb of data yet a friend who's on 02 watched the same game same 4g used less than 1gb of data.

Wtf is going on ?

Re: Data usage rip off.

Video streaming services use variable resolution and framerate streams so that the viewer will see the best quality that their connection and device can cope with.

Therefore, a more modern device on a fast connection will load the highest quality copy of the video, which will use more data than a lower quality version that would be used on an older device and/or slower conenction.

Hello @Bigun127

Thanks for posting on the community.

As @Peter_C has advised, most video on demand providers will automatically vary the playback quality depending on your current connection speed.

Depending on the app/service you are using, you may be able to manually adjust the playback quality in your settings to reduce data usage.

Thanks, Leanne.

What device are you both using?

What screen resolution do you both have on?

If both have same device does it have the exact same settings?

There are so many variables you can't compare just like that.

How strong was both your signals?
