I've just bought a 4GEE Wifi Mini with the specific intention of being able to access my server from my laptop using a VPN link when I'm out and about. The 4GEE Wifi Mini works fine for browsing the internet, and the VPN link works fine using Wifi generally; but I can't seem to access VPN through the 4GEE Wifi Mini.
I've tried EE tech support and they say the 4GEE Wifi Mini is not able to do this, though this limitation wasn't made plain when I bought it. Some of the posts here suggest the probelm can be solved, but they are a couple of years old. I would really appreciate some help in enabling the 4GEE Wifi Mini to do what I bought it for, or some tips on an alternative solution ...

Welcome to the EE Community.
It's not the case that EE 4GEE WiFi doesn't support the use of VPN, it's about the compatibility of your VPN with modern mobile networks.
Do you know which VPN standard your provider uses? IPsec, SSL or OpenVPN?
Some VPN providers are using older software that doesn't support IPv6 yet.

Many thanks - much appreciated. I'm using SoftEther VPN which says the following:
'SoftEther VPN has strong compatibility to today's most popular VPN products among the world. It has the interoperability with OpenVPN, L2TP, IPsec, EtherIP, L2TPv3, Cisco VPN Routers and MS-SSTP VPN Clients. SoftEther VPN is the world's only VPN software which supports SSL-VPN, OpenVPN, L2TP, EtherIP, L2TPv3 and IPsec, as a single VPN software.' (http://www.softether.org/)
I'm not a tech expert so I would be grateful for pointers.

No problem @Antony_F
I would get in touch with their support team so they can look into it.
I've seen similar issues which have been resolved by a software update from their VPN provider.
The key thing to mention is IPv6 compatibility.
Please let me know how you get on.

Suggests it supports IPv6 but perhaps there are some settings I need to attend to?

I have a similar issue with VPN. My company uses forticlient for the VPN. When buying the wireless product I specifically mentioned needed to work from home in xmas period.

it's a pity there are ssues with VPN wit,h this product and earlier ones. This severely limits usefulness for working from home, and needs to be addressed in future products.
The internet access is actual very good, here in cornwall, and a big improvement on relying on BT hotspots.
