4g signal disappeared

Hi

I have a Samsung S7 on a pay monthly EE contract. Up until yesterday, I had a 4G signal at home; now, only 3G. My wife's mobile (on same contract/ network) still has 4G signal, so the problem is my phone.

Any suggestions?

btw - have tried restarting the phone, but no change.

@Karen_Cand @Northerner

Thanks for your assistance guys, but I've resolved this now.

By trawling through the myriad of settings I found a Mobile Data on/ off switch (under Settings->Connections->Data Usage), which was set to off! <<heavy sigh>>

Not sure how, when, or even if I switched this off, but hey, it's working now and I'll know where to go find the option next time.

Once again, thanks for your assistance.

Re: 4g signal disappeared

Hi,

Has your wife got the same phone?

Phones are built differently some with better antennas than others. Just because one can receive 4G doesn't mean both can. Your phone will also connect to the strongest signal.

I'm sorry to say there is no simple solution, you can try turning on flight mode then turning it off.

Thanks

Re: 4g signal disappeared

Get your point re different phone models, but I'm guessing an S7 will have a better antenna than S4 mini (wife's model).

Have tried turning off / on flight mode, but to no avail.

Thanks

Morning @FewMenChew

Have you noticed if you've been having any other issues with your phone?

Have you downloaded any new apps or content recently?

Have you tried doing a manual selection at all?

Sorry for all the questions - hopefully we can get to the bottom of it for you.

Re: 4g signal disappeared

Hi @Karen_C

Not had any other issues with phone and the only app downloaded in the last few days was an update to Google Photos.

Not sure what you mean by "manual selection" 😕

Via Settings->Connections->Mobile Networks, I've tried changing the network mode from LTE/WCDMA/GSM and back again, and I've tried setting a network operator manually & automatically - both to no avail. Is this what you meant?

Thanks, FMC

Re: 4g signal disappeared

Thanks for getting back to me @FewMenChew

Yes that was what I meant - sorry missed the word network in between manual and selection!

It could be an issue in the area - have you checked our Network Status Checker?

Both phones could be connecting to a different mast.
