4G Extremely Slow

The 4G speeds on my iPhone are extremely slow. It is virtually impossible to use the internet. My speeds are consistently very close to 0.1 Mbps.

 

This happens inside any building anywhere in London. I only get better speeds in parks.  

 

I emailed Marc Allera complaining about the issue (Ref. 13015521). He didn't respond, but I received a response from Travis Brading. He was exceptionally rude and dismissive. He did not address my complaint but bluntly stated that I have signed a 2 year contract and need to pay. 

 

I requested a letter of referral to the Ombudsman but he failed to issue one. 

 

I would like to bring a class action against EE. Contact me if you are experiencing the same issue.

I get exactly the same issue where i live. During the night speedtests are consistently 100Mbps but during the day 4G drops as low as 3Mbps. Simply put EE are over subscribed and dont have the necessary backhaul / capacity to deal with demand. They wont admit it, and the same will happen to 5G once its been over saturated.

Actually,  3Mbps is pretty fast. I would be more than happy to get such speeds. Mine are very close to 0. It's impossible to use any app. They all crash and you get partially loaded web pages.

@leo7   In your first post you say indoors,  no network will guarantee a signal indoors as buildings your in can block signals.  Would you expect a signal if you was in a basement as it seems you would.

I was in London last Friday around Liverpool Street, Bank, Farringdon and Knightsbridge and did not experience any issues like you describe; in one indoor test, 280mbps was achieved.

 

Yesterday I was in London again, this time at the Excel and then Shoreditch, again not experiencing issues indoors.

 

Performance does vary, especially indoors, and EE does not provide a guaranteed bandwidth in contract.

Hello Leo7!, have you tried resetting network settings? If that doesn't help try resetting the APN settings.

Here are a few more reasons:

Bill not played

EE network slow because of 5G 

You have loads of apps in the background 

Or you have personal hotspot on.

ust posting photos isn't going to help.

 

Also they will not be slowing down 4G for 5G roll out it'll be the same speed as 4G normally is.

 

Where about are you @leo7 ? There may be issues with the mast in your area.

I live in London, and I drive all around London on a daily basis. And it’s all the same all over London. Slow connection and slow downloads as well as loss of coverage. I can categorically say (with a top of the range iPhone) without hesitation that EE has slowed down 4g since the 5g promotion started.

Do you have field testing log files to evidence such a view?

I have not found any evidence to that effect in my numerous trips to London. However, we have recently had extra hot weather which tends to bring large numbers of people outdoors and using their phones, thereby increasing load.

 

There is also no plausible technical reasoning to support the suggestion that EE is slowing 4G - 4G on masts typically gets upgraded in fact when 5G is added and 5G devices use 4G and 5G bandwidth at the same time.

Yea, it's horrible! I constantly perform speed tests as required by EE technical department. The speeds are constantly 0 (zero). I'll start uploading the results but there are several thousand of them .

Are the Tech Gurus investigating this for you? It's unusual that you'd get absolutely no connection to mobile data.

Hi there,

 

I've been experiencing exactly the same issue, usually download above 50mbps and upload above 20mbps.

 

Now i'm getting download around 15mbps and absolutely zero upload. Ping is between 15-21ms.

Same here. Last few weeks it’s dropped to 3MBPS if I’m lucky. Definitely something going on recently. EE used to be good, but way behind now. Partners o2 is fantastic in comparison. Have contacted support but they couldn’t resolve anything. Waiting for a call from some escalation team.
