Ex-Vectone 075896 number – now allocated to Gamma Telecom but EE still won’t inv

Hi,

I have an ongoing routing issue with my EE number 075896xxxxx, which was ported to EE.

The number works normally for outgoing calls/texts, and EE customers can contact me without any problem. However, calls and texts from other UK and international networks fail, often with “number not recognised” or the call ending immediately.

EE has so far suggested changing my number, but I don’t believe replacing a long-held number is a proper resolution to what appears to be a cross-network routing/number-portability issue.

There has now been an important development: Ofcom’s current numbering data shows Gamma Telecom Holdings Limited as the allocation holder for the underlying 075896 number block following the August 2026 update.

My individual number is still ported to EE, but now that the underlying block has an active allocation holder, I believe EE should reconsider the case and have its Number Portability / Interconnect team verify the current routing and liaise with Gamma if necessary, rather than simply asking me to change my number.

Has anyone else with an ex-Vectone 07589x number experienced the same issue, or successfully had the routing corrected by their current provider?

Welcome to the Community, @isdm

We have a dedicated team for all queries around porting and routing issues, known as the MNP team.

I definitely wouldn't expect them to give 'change your number' as a resolution unless we were confident there was no further means to get this sorted out.

Do you know if this has definitely been investigated by this team, or could you possibly look to further escalate?

Hi Peter,

Thank you. Executive Complaints said they consulted the Number Portability Team, but I have never received an MNP/technical fault reference, so I cannot confirm the dedicated MNP team actually investigated it.

Importantly, Ofcom now shows Gamma Telecom Holdings Limited as the allocation holder for the 075896 number block following the August 2026 update.

Could you please advise how I can get this escalated directly to the MNP team for a fresh routing investigation?

Our number porting doesn't have a direct contact number; however, you can give us a call, and then a guide can pass you through to our MNP team to investigate.

Hi Chris,

Thanks. I called EE Customer Service and explained the full routing issue, but unfortunately they could not transfer me to the MNP team.

They refreshed my SIM and advised waiting 24 hours, then getting a replacement SIM from an EE store if the issue remains. I was told that after this they could refer me to the Service Desk, but not the MNP team.

As this is a cross-network routing/portability issue, could you please clarify how I can specifically get this referred to the MNP team you mentioned?

It's good news that our customer service team have refreshed your line and advised you to wait 24 hours.

I'd recommend following their advice, but if you're no further forward after 24 hours, you can place a complaint, and then our complaints team can get this investigated for you.

Update: I have now spoken directly with Deborah from EE’s MNP Team. She has raised the routing issue with Gamma Telecom for investigation and correction. I was advised this could take anything from a day to around a week, and she will contact me once the issue has been resolved.

Thank you to the Community Support Team for pointing me towards the MNP team. I’ll update the thread once the routing has been fixed.

Update: Unfortunately, it has now been over two weeks since EE’s MNP team escalated my routing issue to Gamma, and the problem is still not fixed.

I still cannot receive calls/messages correctly from non-EE networks.

EE Community Support – could you please advise what I should do next to get this progressed with the MNP team?
