Hi @Alee4524

Further to @Chris_B's suggestion, you can also give our customer service guides a call, and they can check to see if the number is available on EE for you to take.

There is a charge for changing the number if it is available, with it being £86.81 for up to four of the the final digits, or from £511.20 if you wanted to search for a 6 digit memorable number.

Hi Michael,

What if the 6 digits wanted isn’t available with the first 5 digits issued for the initial phone number that’s being changed? Would the new number simply be offered with whatever first 5 digits are available in the EE network? If so does this mean in any cases it isn’t a 6 digit change but a an 11 digit change?

Is it a case of calling customer service to see if the number is available then paying for the change there and then for an existing number, on let’s say a sim only monthly 30 day contract? Or is there a minimum contract the 6 digit change is available for? I assume/hope not since the 6 digit change is a premium charge so EE aren’t at a loss by doing so.

Thanks

Or is only one offered at random?

can I start this search as a change to an existing number I have on an existing long contract, and once available numbers come back can I start a short sim only contract with a random number and apply for the change to that random number all in one go or do I have to wait a few days in between?

Hey there @terence1990.

If you opted to pay for a specific number with the last 6 digits as @Michael_D recommended, the first five digits (known as a prefix) would be assigned from one of a number of standard EE prefixes.

These specifically belong to different networks, so that's the reason you can only customise the last six digits.

Once you have paid for a specific number though, this is yours to do what you wish with.

You're welcome to take this number to other networks via PAC and use it for as long as you wish, but just be aware if you're in contract with us on your plan, you would need to either see out the contract term or pay an early termination fee.

This contract is on the plan though, not the number.
