Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate some advice. I’m trying to transfer my old phone number, which is currently on a contract under another person’s name, to a new EE SIM that I have recently purchased in my own name.

I already have a valid PAC code for the old number. However, I’m struggling to find clear and correct instructions on the EE website on how to complete this process.

When I tried using the “Transfer My Number” option on the EE website and entered the PAC code, I received an error message saying that something went wrong or that the information was incorrect, even though the PAC code itself is valid.

At this point, I’m quite confused about where exactly and how this transfer should be done in my situation. If anyone has gone through a similar process or knows the correct steps, I would be very grateful for your guidance.

With which network is this old no. under another person’s name? If it's with EE you can't use a PAC to port within the same network. PACs are transferring between networks.

EE won't port nos. between its contracts. So you need to 1st port your existing no. to another network's PAYG using a PAC from EE & then in reverse port it back to your new contract. This will also have the effect of cancelling your old contract.

You could alternatively move your old contract to PAYG with 30 days notice & then ask EE to transfer the no to your new contract.

@Olha3 You can’t transfer a number from one contract to another contract. If you wish to keep that number you need to take ownership of the line that’s in this other person’s name. That person needs to call customer support to request this. Or you need to migrate it to a different network on PAYG and then port it back to your new line. Moving the number away from the original account will terminate that line and if it’s still within it’s contract term that contract will have to be paid off.

You'll certainly need to split this into two separate transactions

1: The change of legal ownership

2: The port from provider A > provider B.
