Do I Need A PAC Code To Upgrade To A New Phone Still With EE?

Once my present phone (purchased from EE and using the EE network) was paid off, I moved (still with EE) to SIM only, on a rolling monthly basis. The latest incarnation of this arrangement ends soon and, given the age of the phone now (Samsung Android, no longer receiving updates), I'm looking to actually get a new phone/contract. This will still be with EE, but my question is; as I would be upgrading with EE and remaining with the EE network, do I need a PAC code first, before I do anything? Logically to me, this would seem unnecessary, but the last thing I want, is to blindly stumble into upgrading, only to find I end up with a new mobile number, with all the hassle that would entail. TIA

No, you only use PACs when moving between networks. You just order an upgrade, thereby keeping your no.

Thanks. I guessed that would be the case, just didn't want to do anything hasty. Did try the phone helpline, but the queue was quoted as 45 minutes!
