Hi,

Quick question..

I wanted to change my phone number but keep my existing sim. Question is, what happens to my Whatsapp, will all my contacts automatically be notified of my new number or will I be able to choose who gets notified?

As far as EE, as a mobile network operator, is concerned, they supply your phone with a mobile data connection and a phone number for routing calls & texts directly over their network.

How individual websites & apps operate, is for them - but my understanding is that WhatsApp just use your number as a username.

You saw what happened to Boris on WhatsApp when he changed his phone no. He couldn't provide the Covid inquiry with all his previous WhatsApp msgs, probably intentionally 😉 .
