My iPhone shows a ‘No SIM’ message. I’ve tried restart, cleaning the SIM card etc, but they don’t work.. My phone won’t let me dial or text out. It also won’t let me receive phone calls, but sends the caller straight to answerphone. I am currently in hospital and will be here a couple of months, so I can’t get to an EE shop.

The SIM enables access to a mobile network, thus without that - no coverage means no calls, texts or mobile data.

Ordinarily, a suggestion would be to try a 2way SIM-swap to see if the problem follows the SIM or remains with the phone. If your phone is a dual-SIM model, try the SIM in both slots to rule that out.
