eSim stuck on activating

Terrible experience currently in trying to get an eSim activated.

Been using an eSim for ages in my iPhone 13pro max, upgraded to 15pro max on Tuesday and went through the Apple process for setting up the new phone from the old.

Get's to the esim transfer bit and that's where it all goes pair shaped. The eSim moves across and goes through it's activations process. Doesn't work but the esim off the old phone has been deactivated.

Then let with no mobile signal to call EE support. Online chat can only post me out a QR code (why it can't be emailed like the security pin code I was asked for is beyond me) and I've been charged £1.50 for the privilege.

The QR code arrives today in the post. I follow the instructions for setting it up and it's not been stuck on activating for 3 hours. Still no mobile service to call support. I can't access online banking as it's needing to send me a pin code.

Messaged on X and got a reply of wait for 24 hours. Can't make a complaint as the webform is conveniently saying "down for maintenance"

Terrible experience.

Oh dear. Never used an eSIM yet so cant help.

No access to wi-fi? I've seen an EE Skype number quoted on here by one of the staffers.

This is certainly one scenario where physical SIMs are so much easier.

EE-CS can be contacted on 07953 966150 from any working phone, or +44 800 9566000 from Skype.

I suspect the answer here will be to attend an EE retail store and get a replacement SIM there & then.

Indeed. We bought new phones earlier this year. Swapped the BT mini SIM's over and away we went. And that was Pixel (android) to iPhone.

Now swapping BT for EE SIMs, different matter altogether.

Ended up having to go into an EE store and now have a physical sim which I think I'll be keeping and not swapping back to an eSim

Excellent. An example of the stores fulfilling a useful CS function. As it should be.

Hope we don’t get to a point where future phones are eSIM only 🤞

I like the esim in principle but it's situations like this that highlight the flaw in them.

Indeed. I’m a film fan. Streaming is so easy and convenient. But tangible just works.
