I've never used Apple, but it sounds like the transfer you're being prompted about is that of your old phone data being moved to your new phone.

That's completely different from the PAC process to migrate your number from O2's network to EE's network. Your new phone needs to have a working EE-SIM in order to connect to EE's network - whether that's electronic or physical is immaterial.

That connection then triggers the porting-in process.

Hi,

Yesterday, I picked up my new I phone 16 from EE and I'm just waiting for the switch from O2 to EE (hopefully today) after giving the in-store EE team the Pac code.

Setting up my new I phone last night, it asked me did I want to transfer my existing number to the new I phone 16 via eSIM swap. I did this, but I'm now worried that the transfer won't happen.

Will this have messed the transfer of my number from O2 to EE up at all - or should it still happen later today?

Thanks.

Your new EE SIM will have a temporary number assigned when you first receive it. If a PAC was supplied as part of the order, that will be submitted when you first activate the new SIM onto EE's network.

A port-in date will be set then, usually the following working day. This assumes activation during normal working hours - if during the evening, add an extra working day to these timescales.

Thanks Bristolian.

So by me having swapped my old O2 e-SIM (phone number) from my previous Iphone last night, I take it that I'll need to delete this existing e-sim from my new iphone in order for the EE Sim to activate today?

I'd just presumed (sorry!) that my number would swap to the EE network today when asked by apple if I wanted to transfer my existing number as part of the new iphone set-up.

Great, thanks again.

It looks like as part of this number swap during the set-up, my new phone has my O2 e-sim on it now - not the EE esim. I do have the physical EE sim, number and PIN code provided by the store - but I'm not sure how to get this onto my new iphone if that's needed for the number swap process?

I'm just hesitant to go back into store, as it's over an hour away and the transfer of providers may just happen anyhow?

Thanks.

Hi @Joeb1980aa

The new EE SIM will need to be popped into a phone to start the porting process.

Put the physical EE SIM into your new phone as this supports an eSIM and physical SIM set up.

Once the number port completes, the old eSIM should stop working and the mobile number you're keeping should be on the new physical EE SIM.
