recently ported a number over from giffgaff but the new ee sim won’t allow me to make calls

When was "recently" that you ported in? Were you able to make calls since the port-in?

What happens when you try making a call?

Recently as in I put the new sim in my phone 30mins ago

I can make WhatsApp calls but no normal calls. Won’t even connect when I try

Are you saying that your port-in day was today? If so, have you received confirmation that it's complete?

WhatsApp is just an internet app, like anything else that requires an internet connection. Usage of it proves that your phone has a working internet connection - are you using WiFi or mobile data?
