Unlock code not working on HTC touch 2

Got an unlock code for the HTC touch 2 which is locked to T Mobile but when I try and input it into the device it does not let me enter all of it because it's reached it's character limit so I can't input the code what do I do?

How many digits is the unlock code, and how many digits does it allow you to enter?

the unlock is 10 digits yet it only allows me to enter 8

yes, it was from the official website where i input my imei and got the code

They said they couldn't help me as it's on T-Mobile? I'm not sure if the person I spoke to knew EE own T-Mobile because they said I should try and contact T-Mobile
