Leaving a work contract but need to keep my personal number

Hi,

When I joined my company I was put onto a 24 month contract and put my personal number on to the contract. I am leaving the company after 8 months but would like to take my number with me. Is there a way to switch the companies 24 month contract on to a different number so that I can take my number with me on to a new personal contract?

@jd2113 : With difficulty if at all possible. It will be up to your firm's manager of their nos.

They are more than happy to do it, but EE said it was not possible without taking the contract with me. What I don't understand is why they can't move the contract on to a new number so that my number is free to be transferred on to a new contract?

Cuz if they move the contract to a new no. it will deactivate your no. Conversely if you port your no. to another network it will cancel the contract.
