When I look at SIM-only deals in the Upgrade section of MyEE I'm not offered additional line discount; but if I go into My Shop > Additional Line > SIM only, I am offered that 20% multi-line discount.

My next question is: does that still count as an upgrade, and do your answers above still apply in that case?

Thank you!

Hi,

I am an EE customer several months out of my original contract, so eligible for upgrade.

However I want to keep my existing device, and switch to a new SIM deal.

Am I right in thinking this is not considered an upgrade, and instead is considered a new contract?

If this is the case, do I need to cancel my existing SIM before (or after) ordering my new SIM? Or will they switch automatically since I'm ordering through My EE, they have my number + device info etc?

I want to ensure I can switch from old SIM to new SIM smoothly, and avoid paying for two contracts for the same device.

Thanks!

No, that is an upgrade. You get to keep your no. & you continue to use your old SIM. Order it from your MyEE as "Upgrade Now" & you won't end up with an entirely new contract.

If you give cancellation notice on your existing plan, that will also cancel the number associated with it.

Either "upgrade now" via myEE, or call into CS and request a change of payment plan. If you choose a 12 or 24month plan, that will self-evidently come with a new minimum term which ties you to EE for that time but you retain the option to upgrade back to a handset-plan.

No, an additional line is not an upgrade. It is an entirely new line & contract on top of the additional line your wife already has.

You are not offered any additional line discount when upgrading your own line cuz you are upgrading your main (non-additional) line.
