Thanks Chris.

The family member isn’t with EE, and has their own physical SIM in their phone. The reason for adding an eSIM to their phone was purely so they could use the data from it while I’m in between contracts. In effect they use their non-EE SIM for voice calls etc and the eSIM for data, which iPhones let you do.

I’m gifting data between the two contracts on my account, while I’m paying for both, to split the data availability between both phones.

Thanks for confirming that the eSIM won’t cease until I actually activate the new physical SIM.

Hi,

I have a contract on my account which was originally provided as a SIM. This was converted to an eSIM and given to a family member to use on their iPhone, so they could make use of the data I'm paying for. The original physical SIM ceased to work as soon as it was converted to an eSIM.

I am looking to ultimately cancel one of the contracts and move to the one that is currently an eSIM, and port my number over from the defunct contract once it has been converted to PAYG. As I understand it the process for this will be to replace the physical SIM in my phone with the one from the new contract, which will inherit the old number.

My question is simply - can I go ahead and order this physical SIM to replace the eSIM for the contract and keep it handy for when my old contract is ready to be turned off? Will ordering it stop the eSIM from working, or is it the actual activation that will do that?

Thanks in advance

Daz
