IN regards to a previous topic (Suitable plan for visiting UK and Ireland for 3 weeks ) @Chris_B informed me my only suitable option was PAYG SIM.

My wife and I use iphone 13's that are not locked to our current provider. I see on the PAYG page the option of eSim which seems like a sensible option. If we convert our current sims to eSims locally then it seems like we could fairly easily add EE's eSim profile to our phones on arrival at Heathrow and be up and running within a few minutes.

New question is: Does this sound like the best approach?

Note: I had to create an account on this site using a fame UK phone number because the site does not let me use my NZ phone number to register. Also the Live Chat feature is not offering - presumably because I am not using a UK ip address. Sorry about the fake number but it is awfully hard to make contact from outside your nation!

@pclewis Hi again. At present eSim is only available to contract customers. There are posts on here that some users have been able to get an eSim working with PAYG on EE but EE will not help you with this and I’m sure you don’t want to be spending your time trying to get this to work.

Your best option is to get your current sim with your network provider to move your sim to the esim on your device and just use a EE sim in your device.

OK that is a shame. It's a little misleading for EE to put a link to esim on the PAYG page if it's not officially supported.

Your advice is appreciated and that will be easy to pre-arrange the sim to esim conversion

I see on the PAYG page the option of eSim which seems like a sensible option.

Which PAYG page? Linky please? EE don't do eSIMs on PAYG & so no EE page would be offering them.
