I used to have a Moto C phone but upgraded to a Moto G8 Power. Got some wrong information and thought I would need a new SIM card so I ordered one from EE. It turns out I can use my existing SIM so I put that in my new phone. The phone recognises EE as the mobile network and the same mobile number. Everything is working except messages. I can't receive or send texts.

Could this be because I ordered the replacement SIM card or another reason? Either way I would be grateful for advice on how to resolve it.

Problems sending texts can often be caused by an incorrect message service centre, it should be set to +44 7958 879879

If you can resolve sending texts, then try texting yourself and see if it arrives. Receiving texts should indeed "just work" if you have network coverage.
