Won't let me buy

I want to buy https://shop.ee.co.uk/accessories/pay-now/atp-nreal-air-smart-glasses/details however I don't have an EE phone or broadband so I can't seem to get a buy button.

I made an EE account I'm logged in but it still won't work

You can't buy Accessories from EE unless you already have an EE contract mobile or SIM. They are intended to be paid back with your mobile contract.

Are you trying to purchase Nreal Air AR glasses by any chance? I am trying to buy them in a single transaction, no contracts or monthly payment plan - just a good old fashioned full price payment for product - but it does not let me for the same reason.

I am getting no clear answers

Yeah I don't know what's wrong with this needing a some sort of account/sim or whatever, EE are the only company selling these in the UK and are preventing potential customers from buying them because of this stupid situation they are I forcing on people.....

I'd too like to buy the Nreal Air AR Glasses but this is a bloody joke! There isn't a need to be restricted to be able to purchase these by having anything EE related, they have no Sim, and I have other means for my Internet, so what bloody bright sparks idea was this? £400 a pop bring missed out to those wanting these but not wanting to be with EE.... If only 10 people didn't want these due to not wanting to be with EE that's £4000 EE will lose out on, that's incredibly stupid business sence....

@SeumasRuadh : These can be bought directly by non-custs from certain limited EE stores. Have a search of the Community for someone who listed them.

@XRaySpeX Thanks, before coming on here to buy these or "try" to buy these we did the Worthing EE store which didn't have any, of which I don't think they really knew what I was talking about.... There is a guy who has some on YouTube, just a normal guy and he even said hardly anyone from EE knew much about it, both store and online.....

So when you say Non-cust? You mean Non EE customers, in some stores? Or I've basically got to phone around shops to see who does have them? Or order them in? 🤔

Hi. I felt the same struggle, but eventually was a able to order and
collect them from a local store in Brighton. Part of the challenge is not
many EE staff know about them. I went in my local store (with advice on
what to say etc from another store from central london) and the plac3 an
order for me (with a £25 deposit). 2 days later i got a text advising they
are ready for collection.

I went in, paid the remainder and got my flasses. The staff showed a lot of
interest as they had not seen them before. It was definitely a challenge,
but i am very happy with the glasses. I recommend visiting a larger stall
and asking them to order them in for you as a non-ee customer. Thsy should
avoid all the co versations about contracts etc.

I know right! It's just to me at least it's incredibly stupid to limit which shops of which all North of the South Coast and then making it even more difficult to get it online, it's like if you're going to be the exclusive seller of this essentially hot item push the damn product you know? I don't have a business but I have common sense to k ow this is really really poorly executed, there could be thousands of pounds if not more lost due to the inability to just be able to add to cart and buy these....

Due to my autism I'm not exactly comfortable making phone calls to companies or people I don't know, and I struggle with it a lot, but going into a shop would be fine "IF" the shop employees knew much if anything about this.... Which seems to not be the case...

Chances are I'll get my support worker to help call one of the stores that do sell them and get it either delivered to me or to a store near me.....

@SeumasRuadh The online shop is only available to contract customers as you need an account ( Mobile billing account) and even then there are limitations to purchase from it. You have to be within the first 17 months of that contract to purchase from it and you also have to of been with EE for over 30 days on contract. It’s EEs online shop and they can set what ever policy they seem fit to purchase from it. Think of it as a perk of being a EE contract customer as that’s exactly what it is. I find it really strange that on one is completely about it being a Android only device. Go figure.

Yeah, honestly at this point I'll just say screw it, we called Westfield in London and they were like yeah we had them but not any more...... Then said to call customer services which we did, but then had to be put through to sales which then the lady came back and said the management basically said yeah you can only have it on contact payment.....

If you want a device like this and having it locked away at a massive discount is fine as a perk for EE customers, but seeing how many just want the device without the EXTRA cost of a contract is insane to lock it away from everyone no matter the phone provider, I'd even have paid £400 if I were able to get it else where but you can't...

This is why a lot of people didn't want to buy a Quest 2 because of being locked into having to have a Facebook account which they didn't want to do, of which you no longer have to have a Facebook account to use the Quest 2.....

I think I'd rather buy a Quest 2 now I know the Facebook thing, I mean I basically wanted it to watch movies and play my xbox and stuff anyways, and it has more to it, games and such....

I know it sounds as though I'm being a nob, but it's just the stupidity in the whole idea of locking something down which could really be big and enjoyed by so so many more people.

To me it's just holding back the technology, and yes EE are in their own rights to do as they please on who they sell/market this product (which hasn't really been marketed, not do many at EE actually know about it outside of the limited stores that had some).

It's just how I see it personally, maybe it's my autism that just thinks it's so stupid or just common sense I don't know....

@SeumasRuadh what is the saying - if at first you don't succeed - try again.

It's not like these things are everyday items, and that all the in store people know all about them. Chances are they were provided in limited numbers, and only one or maybe two people per store knows anything - as suggested by the answer you got.

The main centre for all things electronic has been Tottenham Court Road for ages - I remember going there many years ago to buy my first computer - sorry, I digress. Were it me, I would try calling that store and find the person who knows about them, and do as originally planned.

"They are intended to be paid back with your mobile contract." This is surely rubbish, how is this true when the price on the EE shop for this item is the same price as the retail price? This is an asinine decision from EE intended to steer people to xfer to the EE service, which I am not prepared to do, therefore they won't get my 400 quid.
