Private number calls claiming to be EE offering 40% discount for loyal customer

Today I've had two calls that appeared as "Private Number". Normally I never answer these, but I need to at the moment as I'm expecting important calls from a hospital that sometimes appear this way.

Both callers were female with strong accents. One Indian, the other African. I led the second one along a bit to see what the scam was. She asked if I was happy with the service: Yes. She could offer me a 40% discount as I was a long standing customer: Great, thanks, you can just take it off my current bill then. Then she tried to get me to disclose my email address, to confirm I was the account holder: No, I said, you could be anybody and you've come up as a private number. At this point she rang off.

So just a warning they are trying this.

You are right to be wary, this doesn't sound genuine, as our partners would call from one of the numbers found here Numbers EE partners will call from.
