Scam call offering me a 30 percent discount

Today I received a call on purportedly 020 4538 9426 from purportedly John purportedly from EE. He asked how I was today and if I wanted a 30 percent discount. The man was speaking with a South Asian accent in what sounded like a call centre.

He asked me to tell him how much I was paying each month so that I could identify myself. I declined and as he was working for EE asked him to tell me how much I was paying. He said that he needed to know to take me through security.

I declined again and he rang off.

I subsequently called 150 and reported this incident to EE. The guy I spoke to confirmed that EE had not contacted me today and that the call was a scam.

I am publishing this to the community so that other are aware of this scam.

Got the same scam call today and instantly disconnected. Number was 020 3404 2320. Has there been a data breach at EE for customer numbers or something?

I also recieved the same calls and then a follow up from the processing team. They couldn't even get my name correct. They also sent ths email

I’ve had this call from two different numbers over the last week - no name given but sounded like the same person both times

numbers are 020 4599 6880 and 020 4599 6877

I’m in the process of transferring back to EE so can’t report on 150 but my number was with EE before 2020.

The first time I said I was with Virgin and he said that was no problem, he could still help as EE and Virgin are business partners - given the reason I am returning is the O2 network I ended the call. Second time I ended the call quicker and reported both to 7726 straight after each call.

Either the list of numbers they are (or he is) using are from old data or they are unrelated to whether you have EE.

I got a call too just now as mentioned by ANPARKER. I sensed it was a scam and thought I'd hang up and google the company name, it brought me to this page so I know for sure it is a scam. Thank you

This number is not listed on our 'What numbers will EE partners call from?' help page.

Please report the call by texting CALL followed by the number to 7726.

If you are ever unsure of a call please call 150 and our customer care team will be able to confirm if this was a genuine EE call.

I just received the same call from 0161 524 8492. He was very insistent that it was official and I would be receiving an email, didn’t have any of my details and then asked for my sort code and account number to cancel the direct debit..
