Over the last couple of weeks, I have had a number of experiences of people calling me, replying to a missed call from my number that I have not sent. Also, I have replied to missed calls appearing on my phone, only to find that the owner of that number had not called me.

Has anyone else had the same experiences? Has my phone number been compromised somehow? If so, is their a security fix that I can make?

@MJS27 this is called number spoofing basically someone is calling random numbers and spoofing your number so it looks like you are making the call. It’s not a security issue and there’s nothing you can do about it except change your number and it could happen again with that at some point.

Thank you! It seems that it is a nuisance that I shall have to live with, unless it gets worse. I shall have to stop replying to missed incoming calls from numbers that I do not recognise but shall have to continue replying to voice calls from callers who think they are replying to a missed call from me.

Your no. has been spoofed, probably by scammers to hide their id while scamming others. The Number Spoofing Scam - Ofcom explains what could be causing this.
