Potential scam

Hi,

I received a call from this number on Tuesday - 020 7071 8948.

He said that I have been chosen to receive a free gift and reduced line rental. He was asking a lot of questions and wanted me to confirm my personal details.

He sent through a two-factor authentication code which came from -EE- so I’m not sure if it’s legit. I realised halfway through the call that it didn’t sound genuine so asked for a call back as I was busy.

Has anyone else experienced a call with this from that number?

Many thanks

@Jessicarose22 That’s a scam. EE will not reduce your contract price, why would they you’ve committed to paying that contract for the duration of it.

What was actually happened they were trying to hack your account and EE was sending you a confirmation code. They where then trying to get this code from you so they can have full access to your account because they have that code. You never spoke to EE you spoke with a scammer.

if you gave them this code I highly recommend you change your EE account password, you also need inform your bank as the scammer probably wants your number and that could mean a port out to a different network. They then try and gain your bank account info. And or order phones on your account that you’re responsible for. You also need to call EE customer support if you did.
