Hi had a call from a private number today about sending a new sim card to all EE members because since joining BT there has been problems with signal drop out ( i have had no problems ) any way i was sent a pin no to change my password which i didnt do so not sure if its genuine or not any help would be appreciated.

EE became part of the BT Group years ago. So this alleged signal drop must have been around for ages!

Asking you to change your pwd, which you sensibly refused, is also a sign of a scam.

Report spam calls by filling the form @ https://www.bt.com/exp/help/contact-bt/form/scams

That isn't a typical call we would make. You're right to be cautious.

You can check if a call is genuine and from us on our How Do We Contact You page.
Or if the call was from our Direct Partners at Phone numbers EE partners will call from.

If you're concerned about unsolicited contact from other companies, you can visit How to avoid and prevent scams including phishing, vishing and smishing for hints on how to block and prevent these.

As @XRaySpeX has mentioned, you can also report the call to be investigated at Report a scam call | Help
Alternatively, text CALL followed by the number that called you, to 7726 .

Hi Ali thanks for your take on my problem had the same call from a private number today sounded like the same person as soon as i started to question him about this matter he hung up, but just to say the link that was sent had the ee logo on it and looked very convincing.

We don't call from withheld numbers on any of our outbound campaigns @Kennny , so that's a pretty good indication too. Particularly that they hung up on questioning.
