EE Suspicious calls

On Tuesday this week I got a call from (Supposedeley) EE telling me I was due 6 months half price on my 4 EE phone tariff's I have with them. New 5G sim cards were being sent out to me next day delivery via DPD needing a signature on arrival.

I waited in all day Wednesday and of course nothing came, Thursday still nothing and today Friday 17th January I rang the mobile number that earlier contacted me 07441344282 and spoke with the very same "Indian guy" who called me earlier in the week. He now tells me they have cancelled my delivery which in all honesty doesn't bother me as everything was and still is working fine.

The downside is that he has locked me out of my account, which I have had for years, and now I cannot log in or see what is going on at all.

I created this "New Account" just now so I can at least post in these forums again hoping some admin or moderator can salvage my original account and then sort and delete this new one I have just created.

Happy to receive a PM or a phonecall from anyone who can sort this out so we can pass details privately and get me logged in again.

Have I had a scam call, if so how can they access my account and disable it.

I can imagine this must be a massive worry, and I'm keen to make sure we point you in the right direction for getting your account secured.

Have you had a chance to speak with anyone in our customer care team so they can check up on what's happening with your account, and if any new products have been purchased?

Have you tried resetting the password for your online account too?

The user in question here has deleted their forum account so won't be able to respond, however there are multiple red-flags here...

1: There's no such thing as a 5G SIM or "any other G" SIM - an EE SIM is multi-technology and supports all G

2: To order an additional or replacement SIM would have required access to your existing account (thus account password and/or OTP)

3: Quite often, the end-game for a scammer is to gain access to your account in order to change addresses and/or order replacement SIM to their address. Once they have access to your SIM, they have access to your number and thus OTP for access to all manner of accounts including financial ones.

Refusing to provide any details that can give them account access - notably any OTP password or PIN - is an absolute basic when dealing with these "people".

It's a scam as the call came from a mabile no. & not a landline that EE usually uses.

Report spam calls by filling the form @ https://www.bt.com/exp/help/contact-bt/form/scams

EE CS usually call "from" 07973 100194 or occasionally 07973 100610

Third party "partners" probably do use landlines.
