Received A EEMMS message. Wonder if it's legit.

Hi all,

I received a message from https://get.mms.ee.co.uk/ee/ overnight asking for my mobile number and the included password saying I had a message from them for a MMS. The sender is a contact of mine but when I try to pick up the message, the message cant be found. Is this genuine? Is there any type of delay in receiving the message. I'm a bit worried. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for your response Katie. Just a follow up. I spoke to the contact who this MMS was supposedly from and they said that they hadn't messaged me last night. This leads me to believe that this is in fact a scam or mistake somewhere along the line. Could my contacts phone be the one that has been scammed in some form or another?

Are you aware if they have sent a text that could include an Emoji or anything that could pass for a picture message?

They said that they hadn't sent anything to me at all last night. No messages or anything. Bizarre.

Yes, it is a genuine EE link to a repository of MMS sent to you when your device is not set up for MMS. However it sometimes give false notifications.

For most phones, you can download the MMS settings needed from the online set up tool , so you can receive MMS directly w/out being directed to EE's d/load site.

Even if I wanted to use the online set up tool, Iphone isn't on there.

@dfod , if you click on settings and then go down to messages and click on it, see if MMS is on, it sounds like it has not been enabled.
