As long as you ordered the upgrade by phone or online you may cancel within the statutory 14-day cooling-off period & revert to as you were.

Hi. I am a year through my 2 year contract and have been told, as i paid extra for it, that i can early upgrade for free now that a year has passed. I understand that if i upgrade then its essentially a new contract. My question is, what happens if I dont like the new upgrade withing my 14 days of getting it. can i canel my contract completely with no charge, or is there an option to swap for a different handset?

If you get a free upgrade you would be liable to pay the remainder of the original contract off as this is not a get out of jail free card.

You're only half way thro' your current contract. You'd still need to pay that off.

Not really. I've done it with o2 mobile and canceled my upgrade within 14 days for free. Old contract has been written off by upgrade.

That maybe how you experienced O2, it's certainly not how EE do so.

A 14days statutory "change of mind" cancellation puts you back in the position you were prior to the sale. In this case, part-way through your minimum term.

Well. I've had BT broadband approx 12 months left. I've upgraded to EE and got final bill from BT refund of £22 for half of the month. I decided to switch over to Vodafone as it was cheaper than EE or BT. Switch requested during cooling off period was successful and now I'm with Vodafone.same speed but £16 cheaper.

PS cancelling upgrade too EE won't roll back to BT as account with BT is closed and final bill received.
