Rude community ee staff

Hi EE Team,

I just wanted to raise a concern that’s been on my mind. I recently had an interaction with someone on the EE Community who holds a “Community Star” badge — and I have to be honest, the tone and attitude I received from them was really disappointing.

I understand these badges are meant to represent helpful, respectful members of the community who go above and beyond to support others. But based on the dismissive and condescending tone in the response I received, I’m genuinely surprised that this individual has been recognised in that way.

Everyone deserves to be spoken to with respect, especially when they’re reaching out for help. I think it’s worth looking into how these badges are awarded, and whether someone who speaks to people like that is really the best representative for EE’s community.

Did you know you can click on the Option button of a post you think is inappropriate & report it to Mods as "Report Post" instead of airing it in an open post? It's entirely up to you which method you use. I'm just drawing it to your attention.

I do agree, I hardly use the community anymore as there are two or three "stars" who treat people badly and act in a very unconstructive way.

The information they give is also often poorly explained or downright wrong.

I've reported one of them a few times but no action seems to be taken.

Thank you for your reply — I really appreciate your honesty and support. It’s frustrating (and honestly a bit disheartening) to come to the community for help and be spoken to like that by someone with a “Community Star” badge.

Hearing that others have had the same experience and even reported it without much being done is disappointing. These forums should feel like a safe, helpful space, not one where people are belittled or dismissed. Hopefully if enough of us speak up, something will finally be done about it.

@Stewart38 You came here thinking someone here can support you because you got a 3rd party repair and you thought you could then claim on the insurance to get that 3rd party screen replaced under insurance for a genuine part. You didn’t like what was put because it was straight to the point without basically saying you messed up. The insurance got terminated by your own actions because you very obviously didn’t read the insurance information as I stated. If that upset you so be it but you got the information you asked for all be it straight to the point.

And I see it took you over 5 hours to come back here and start this new thread so obviously it didn’t upset you that much with what I put.

You clearly have a lot to say — but the way you’ve chosen to say it speaks volumes. I came here looking for help, not to be patronised or spoken down to. You might think you’re just being “straight to the point,” but there’s a way to communicate clearly without being condescending, sarcastic, or dismissive.

This isn’t the tone I expect from someone holding a Community Star badge, and I’m far from the only one who feels this way. When someone reaches out for support, they should be treated with basic respect — even if they’ve made a mistake.

Thanks for confirming what kind of environment this forum has become.

@Chris_B This is exactly the type of disrespectful, unconstructive and patronising post I was talking about.

I tend to stay away from the Community, after being active several years ago precisely because of posts like yours.

ugh literally same, I left a note complaining about how they were still charging me after the contract date had ended and one of the community staff replied saying its a you issue, i dont know which company ever lets their staff speak like this to their customers.

The person in question is not EE staff just a customer like you

Our Community Stars are not EE staff members, they are customers and members of the public that take the time to help share their knowledge in our discussion threads.
