Hi there, so we recently came back to EE after finding out Sky doesn't allow 3rd party routers

I setup the router with the settings provided by EE it says on the admin page for the ASUS that is is connected but there is no Internet on devices, it allows you to connect etc etc it doesn't even say connected without Internet as it usually does, but alas no connection.

I am really stumped,I've followed other guides on here from people with similar issues but its landed me nowhere.

I would really appreciate some help.

If you still have your internet through your phone line you will need a modem.

If you are on full fibre, you don’t need the vlan set to 101.

@AquilaJT The Asus router connects from its wan port to the Lan port of the ONT modem, probably better to use the 2.5Gb/s wan on the asus just incase you upgrade later, make sure the Asus router is upgraded to its latest FW if possible but you may have to do this later as you do not have the EE router on at present. If not sure, follow the Asus easy setup mode application, ensure that you are selecting router mode, fill in the user name, you can leave the password blank, if not BT and CHAP if you wish to do it, and the Asus will sort itself out and connect.

If the EE router connects and you can use it to ensure that the internet is up, sometimes you have to leave the ONT and the Asus both off, for about an hour, then power ONT first, couple mins later Asus on and let it authenticate on the network and connect.

Hi there when you say leave the password blank "if not BT" does that mean EE customers should leave it blank or is it optional? As for everything else that is exactly what I did

Perhaps I will try leaving the ONT and ASUS off for an hour or so tonight when no one is actively using the internet (I am currently back on the EE Router as I couldn't fix it before people needed it)

Yes as mentioned above I followed the full EE "guide" to getting setup.

As for sky, they no longer openly provide information and only old systems are authorised to my knowledge, I've not seen anyone in the last 12 months confirm they are using a 3rd party router on its own with Sky, that is sort of besides the point now though.

I have a DSL version, and it does take a bit of working out with its dual WAN capability, so you do need to make sure the port you are using has the right settings - though as interchangeable

Never had the need to leave stuff off for an hour when changing devices, the settings are such that service should be picked up almost straight away - if they are correct.

Also never had a need to use BT in the password box, leaving blank should be fine. You also don’t need MAC cloaning are similar, just PPOE the bt home name as in the guide and no 101 VLAN...

I haven't used this router before as a standalone unit, we were briefly using it as an Access Point prior to changing to EE

I will attempt to go through the setup again and leave the password field blank, as for Dual WAN I believe it has been disabled the entire time during my 3-4 setup attempts, it asks which one you want to use during the setup and you can choose to have Dual WAN but I haven't done that yet.
