Broadband speed

I would like to know why my broadband speed is so bad like we pay the usual £30 for the 'ultra fast' broadband and i get 3mbps at best like this company needs to do something. They say its 'my area' but they are just ripping people of money at this point using that as an excuse to save customers for at least a month i am thinking of changing to hyper optic. Any adcice on how to improve the speed?

I am pretty sure i have the ultra fast one but had to plug in the old router due to the new one making no diffrence and stop working every 30 mins its a problem from the company since my neighbours having no problem with their broadband but they are from difrent companies so it can't be due to my area i am thinking of calling to either cancel the contract or give me what i've paid for because this is just outrageous not following the contract and false advertising

@Yannis1 , it will depend how they are getting their internet and who from. Are you sure you are on fast broadband and not FTTC? Are you on copper or fibre broadband?

Plans have a more specific name than "the ultra fast one", like "Full Fibre Essentials 900".
