I have been in the process of trying to get the “Smart TV” aspect of my new Samsung Viewfinity S9 Monitor up and running. As part of the initial setup it needs to connect to an internet connection.

First of all I tried to get it working with the WiFi supplied by the care home in which I am staying. This gave me this error message…

I spoke to Samsung support who told me that it was probably something to do with the WiFi connection, possibly some over-zealous firewall settings or something.

I then decided to try an EE WiFi hotspot, so I spent £7.50 on a one day pass, and tried selecting that WiFi.
Here is the error I got…

Apparently the same issue! I don’t see how this can be due to firewall settings, but I am at a loss to figure out what could be the cause of this problem.

All the IP settings are derived automatically. I’ve also tried setting the IP addresses manually but substituting various public DNS Servers such as 1.1.1.1 and other, but none of these worked either.

Any ideas would be gratefully received 🙏

Both of those networks loo as if they also need additional login and password details. Is the TV capable of entering those details?

Thanks for the reply @Mustrum! If I had my computer displaying on the screen, I could easily blur the IP addresses, but I’m waiting for a Display Port cable from Amazon, so it’s iPad only at the moment.

I’ve already supplied the passwords for both WiFi services. What makes you think that the information is missing. Not saying you’re wrong, just trying to get my head round a seemingly tricky problem 😉

It's not the IP addys. They are purely local. It's the MACs.

Yes! I wonder if there is a way to get theTV to forget everything so that I can enter them again, just to make sure.
Never mind, I’ve just tested it by trying a different WiFi network, and that one prompted me for a password, suggesting that it has remembered the login and password that I originally entered.

Sorry, whist that is the case for a domestic router, connecting to a public WIFI will show exactly what is being shown.

To be honest, now that I have applied my DP to DP MIni cable and got the Monitor to just do the basics of displaying my Mac’s video output, I’m not so worried about the smart TV functionality. After all, it has nothing that I cannot get with a browser 😉
