Just moved from O2 to EE for mobile. Virgin media are hiking our 500mb broadband from £54 to £84 next month. There is no other provider where we live that delivers this speed. The attitude seems to be take it or leave it even though we’ve been with them for 18 years. We probably don’t need it all the time anymore as I retired early so am not on work systems all day. Seems that EE full fibre wont be arriving until around 2026. Only 2 adults at home now and we use broadband for streaming, uploading data to OneDrive and a bit of online gaming. Is 67mb broadband adequate for this until faster speeds are available? Thanks for your opinions.

@Chris0412 the 67Mb you mention is an average speed measure insisted by OFCOM, supposedly to help consumers. But the actual speeds you get depends on the distance to the cabinet - the further away, the slower the speed, so to get a better idea of the speed you can expect, enter your details in the BTW DSL checker and see what it says - post the results hiding your address if you need more info.

That said, and depending on the results, streaming should be fine, gaming may not be as resposive, gaming and streaming at the same time MAY show issues.

HTH

What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number or you don't have one, use the Address Checker.
